Future Designs

Future Designs was established 38 years ago with the goal of manufacturing contemporary millwork for Night Clubs, Restaurants, Retail Stores & High-end Residential. Fiber-optic and Laser lighting was incorporated into the furniture and into the design of the establishment.

In 1987, we noticed that the lighting in Jewelry Stores was very poor and started doing some research into how their lighting could be improved to make the diamonds sparkle because everything looked dull under Fluorescent lighting. We attended Lightfair and found that Halogen was the new up and coming light source for the Retail market. Future Designs has been specializing in jewelry lighting since then. We designed our Halogen Showcase lights and started manufacturing them in 1988. Our Slimlite 2000 Halogen Showcase light was a great improvement over outdated fluorescent lighting. We captured the market and started selling custom built Halogen Showcase lights directly to Jewelry stores and to Store fixture manufacturers. This product was what made us focus strictly on lighting. Mike designed the Aluminum extrusion with heat sinks so the Halogen Showcase lights would run much cooler.

Then, we designed our first generation stem lights for Museum cases. We called them Mini Giants. We custom built them to the customer’s specs and used 12V 20W MR11 bulbs. That was the 2nd hit for us.

In the late 1990’s, Mike designed our Lux Millennium Metal Halide Track lights & Recessed lights. Future Designs received a Utility Patent for the heat sink technology, which was designed to make the ballast run cooler in our Lux Millennium Metal Halide track lights.  The ballast manufacturer tested their ballast in our fixture and were surprised at how much cooler their ballast ran in our fixture and extended us a 6 year warranty on the ballasts instead of the standard 5 years they extended the other fixture manufacturers. The 70W Metal Halide was replacing 3 50W Halogen bulbs, thereby saving electricity and helping the AC run cooler. This was our 3rd Hit.

By this point, Future Designs had literally changed the face of the jewelry industry in the U.S. and abroad.

After Nichia introduced the first White LEDs in the late 1990s, we started ordering samples of LED chips and doing some experimenting. By 2005, we designed our first LED Showcase lights, which we custom build to size. Since then, we have introduced different models of LED Showcase lights, LED stem lights, LED Track lights and LED Downlights.

We also custom build under-cabinet lighting and stock many different Aluminum LED Profiles, UL Listed LED strips in all different color temperature and our own line of UL Listed Dimmable LED drivers.

Future Designs has always been the leader in new lighting technologies with the capability to design, manufacture and repair lighting fixtures. We always strive to bring to market the latest and greatest lighting technology.

Throughout the years, we have also become distributors for several reputable lighting manufacturers so we can offer lighting for all types of projects.
